North Intermediate School Welcomes a New Occupant

Four of WNIS's 5th grade students donated a homemade dinosaur (made through cub scouts) to our 3rd grade hallway. The students in 3rd grade have a reading unit themed around dinosaurs, so they thought this was a perfect place for the dinosaur to make his new home. The boys proudly represent Cub Scout Pack 229 of Lake Wallenpaupack.

Wallenpaupack Hosts 2nd Annual Engineering Competition

Over 100 students and faculty members from Abington Heights, Honesdale, Lakeland, North Pocono, Pocono Mountain, Wallenpaupack, Western Wayne, and Wyoming Valley West converged at Wallenpaupack Area High School on October 26th for the 2nd Annual Wallenpaupack Area Engineering Competition.

Sponsored by Kiley Associates, this year's competition required the teams of students to build a device with the ability to carry a payload while being fired from a spring-loaded catapult. Every team experienced success and the designs reflected many different approaches to this complex problem. Honesdale High School walked away with this year's top award for their vehicle's performance and design.

Special thanks go out to Justin Hoffmann and Mitch Jacobs from Kiley Associates for designing the problem and for serving as judges. Thanks also to Vince Griffin from E.D. Pons Engineering and to Nick Spinelli from the Lake Wallenpaupack Watershed Management District for serving as judges. We look forward to seeing everyone again at next year's competition.
