Student Assistance Program (SAP)

Wallenpaupack North Primary School Student Assistance Program

What is the function of the SAP Team at the Wallenpaupack North Primary School?

SAP is a group of teachers and other staff members who discuss a student's academic and/or behavioral difficulties to devise interventions to address these particular needs.

Who is eligible for SAP?

Any student in kindergarten or grades one or two who is experiencing academic and/or behavioral difficulties is eligible for SAP assistance.

How does the student benefit from SAP?

The student receives the academic and/or behavioral assistance necessary to address his/her educational needs under the direction of trained teachers and staff members.

What is the role of the parent in SAP?

The parent is notified by telephone or letter of the student's referral to SAP and invited to participate in the team meetings. Parents may also be directly involved in implementing the interventions agreed upon by the team. As always, parental support is a vital component affecting the outcome of the strategies being used.
