The Wallenpaupack Area School District Health and Wellness Program facilitates the healthy growth and development of our district children of school age. In Wallenpaupack, we address our children's health and wellness needs with a comprehensive approach that includes health screening, physical activity programs, nutrition and education.
Mandated Health Screening Services |

Growth Screening Program |
A growth screening letter will be sent home to all parents of students in Grades K-12. This will include the Body Mass Index (BMI) and the Body Mass Percentile which are used as guidelines to help assess whether a person may be overweight or underweight. |
Vision Screening |
Vision Screening is completed for all students in Grades K-12. This screening is not a substitute for a comprehensive eye examination by an eye care specialist. If your child fails this screening, a referral will be mailed home. |
Hearing Screening |
Hearing screening is completed for students in Grades K, 1, 2, 3, 7, and 11. This screening is not a substitute for an audiology examination by your health care provider. If you child fails this screening, a referral will be mailed home. |

Medication Policy | Parents should contact the nurse if a student needs medication during the school day. |

Immunization Requirements |
|
All students who are in 7th grade must show proof of a Tdap and MCV immunization before beginning school in September unless the child has a medical or religious/philosophical exemption on file. All immunizations must be current, or the student may be excluded from school. Students at any grade, Kindergarten through 12th, including all public, private, parochial, or nonpublic school in this Commonwealth of Pennsylvania must show proof of immunization before they can attend school. This pertains to vocational schools, alternative education programs, intermediate units, special education, home education programs, charter, and cyber charter schools.
